My Submission for Illustration Friday is a logo which I made for an independent theatre production of a play by Xavier Durringer.
The idea behind the logo is a story about foreign legionaires. They catch scorpions and put them into a ring of burning petrol for fun. The scorpions without a chance to escape commit suicide and sting himself.

In the VII. Voyage the hero Ijon Tichy is trapped in a time loop and meets himself again and again.

In the 27th century Ijon Tichy becomes the director of the INT, an organisation which has the aim to optimize the history of Earth by means of time travels. But the employees of the INT are incompetent and intrigue against Tichy so that the plan fails to correct history.

My submission is an illustration of the Star Diaries by Stanislaw Lem, a Polish science fiction author. The Star Diaries are a collection of satiric and philosophic short stories. The Thirteenth Voyage is a satire of totalitarian regimes. Ijon Tichy is arrested by a space patrol of pinta. The regime of pinta propagandizes the evolution from man to fish and forces the inhabitants of this planet to live in water. At the end Tichy saves himself and escapes from pinta.

Two weeks ago I saw an old video with Janet Baker as Dido in Purcell's opera "Dido and Aeneas". It was "Dido's Lament", the end of the opera when dido dies. I was very impressed by her great voice and acting (and by the oldstyle costumes, too) and so I was inspired to create this illustration.
And for the people, who are interesting, the text of "Dido's Lament":

Thy hand, Belinda, darkness shades me,
On thy bosom let me rest,
More I would, but Death invades me;
Death is now a welcome guest.
When I am laid in earth, May my wrongs create
No trouble in thy breast;
